LVGR Art & Music Auction Design, May–July 2023

Lehigh Valley Girls Rock (LVGR) is an amazing nonprofit organization. It empowers cisgender girls and women + nonbinary and transgender folks through music and art. I have been volunteering with LVGR since 2014. In 2023, I curated an Art & Music Auction that raised over $1,000 for LVGR. People could bid online and also see the art on display at the 2023 Get LOUD Camp youth showcase. My design features details of four of the artworks that were in the auction. On the left there are details from Diadra Sylva's work "Dream" and Emily Strong's work "James Webb Jupiter." On the right there are details from Brianne Schoolcraft's work "bombarded" and Maeve Audenried's work "Spectrum."
LVGR Connecting While Apart Activity Booklet, May–July 2020

Because of COVID-19, the annual LVGR youth camp (for ages 10-17) needed to be changed to a virtual format in 2020, called Connecting While Apart. To strenghten the feeling of being together from a distance, LVGR created its first ever activity booklet, with submissions from volunteers (Annemarie, Alexis, Molly, Becca, Mary, and me) and one previous camper (Shayla). I combined all the submissions together into the finished booklet design, which campers received as part of a special care package. These are three of the pages that I created for the booklet. Page 8 is an electric guitar maze. Page 11 is a tribute to past LVGR bands. It has the names twice of every LVGR youth camp band from 2014–2019 along with the LVGR after-school club band. Campers could add their new band names to this page, joining all those bands that rocked before them. I want to give a shout-out to the bands I have mentored on this page: Something's in the Air, Untouchable Wicked Thorns, The Dream, Dabbing Donuts, and Rock Queens. Page 13 encourages campers to bee themselves. I liked the idea of including bees because they are the most important species on Earth.
Frizzy Felines Band Logo, September 2019

I designed this logo for my band Frizzy Felines. Our band name came from our mutual love of cats (and some of us have frizzy hair). We became a band through The Band Factory Lehigh Valley Girls Rock (LVGR) program. Through this program, new bands are formed and given two months to prepare three songs and then perform. Bands fundraise for LVGR (similarly to runners in a race) only instead of running, we performed our music. We played two original songs and one cover at the performance. I played drums for one song and bass for two songs. My awesome bandmates were Mary, Diadra, and Elysia.
Women and LGBTQ+ Empowerment, September 2019

I designed this as a representation of the mission of Lehigh Valley Girls Rock (LVGR), which is "Lehigh Valley Girls Rock is dedicated to empowering cisgender girls and women + nonbinary and transgender folks through music and art." Through The Band Factory LVGR program, my band Frizzy Felines raised money for LVGR. Anyone who donated $10 or more to Frizzy Felines received a sticker with this design as a thank you gift. Thanks to my bandmates (Mary, Diadra, and Elysia) for helpful feedback as I created this.
Let's Rock Camp and Youth Rock Camp 2017 Schedules, April–July 2017

Lehigh Valley Girls Rock (LVGR) is part of the Girls Rock Camp Alliance. I started volunteering with LVGR at their first youth camp in 2014. In 2015, I mentored a band for half the week, and in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2023 I mentored a band for the whole week of the youth camp. In 2020 and 2021, I was a band coach at the whole week of virtual camp. The kids build up so much confidence over the course of the week and accomplish so much. In just one week of in-person camp, they form a band, learn an instrument, write an original song as a band, design a band logo, silkscreen print that logo onto shirts, attend workshops on topics such as self-care, and perform in a real showcase! At virtual camp, they learned Soundtrap and used that to create an original song as a band, made a music video for their song in WeVideo (2020) OR created designs in Canva to accompany their song (2021), attended virtual workshops, and shared their songs with the public on YouTube.

I have also had my own band experiences through LVGR. In 2017, I played bass in the band Sweet Disconnect during the adult version of the camp, called Let's Rock Camp, that happens over the course of a weekend. In 2019, at Let's Rock Camp again, I played drums in the band Stem. Later in 2019, I took part in The Band Factory program as a drummer and bassist in the band Frizzy Felines.

Since 2017, I have volunteered on the LVGR camp committee. In 2017, this included the task of designing the schedules for both the adult camp (that I attended as a camper) and the youth camp (that I attended as a volunteer). I created symbols for the different events that take place during camp (instrument lessons, band practices, workshops, and meal breaks) as well as for the groups the campers divide into (shredders/noodlers and picks/sticks). With these symbols, the busy schedule was easy to follow.

Comenius Center Graphic Design Post-Graduate Internship, Brochures, June–August 2013

After graduation from Moravian College (now Moravian University), I worked as a graphic design post-graduate intern for the Moravian College Comenius Center (now Moravian University Graduate and Continuing Studies Program). I created and updated informational brochures in keeping with Moravian's established visual identity to showcase various majors. For the art department brochures, I contacted students to provide testimonials about the programs.
ArtsQuest Internship, InQ Advertisements, January–April 2013

While interning at ArtsQuest, I designed and updated materials with attention to detail, while maintaining the ArtsQuest brand.
American Red Cross Posters, Created as a Volunteer Designer for the American Red Cross of the Greater Lehigh Valley, July–October 2012

I created four posters for display in local American Red Cross office buildings.
Karen D. Connell Logo and Business Card, 2012

Karen requested a new logo for her therapist practice incorporating a butterfly because of its meaning as a symbol for transformation. To represent this transformative idea, the butterfly turns into the “K.”
Selected Moravian College (now Moravian University) Posters, 2010–2012

I created these event posters while I was a student at Moravian College (now Moravian University). They were all used for events on campus, except for the Foo Fighters poster which was an April Fool's Day band poster assignment that I later revised.
